What you can set up
- Channels — public team rooms (#general, #engineering) and private groups.
- Direct messages — 1:1 and small group chats.
- Threads — reply in-thread to keep channels readable.
- Channel topics & headers — pin purpose and links at the top of a channel.
- Integrations — incoming webhooks and bots (where enabled).
- Notifications — per-channel and global mention/desktop settings.
Day-to-day use
- Coordinate installs, deployments, and blockers in project channels.
- Share links to Plane issues and Outline docs.
- Use @mentions for urgent attention; use threads for detail.
- Search message history to recover decisions and context.
- Set status and timezone so the team knows availability.
Access & maintenance
- Sign in with Authentik SSO (GitLab OAuth provider behind the scenes).
- Admins manage teams, channels, and membership in the System Console.
- Field installers are typically limited to specific channels — not all workspace channels.
- Deactivated Authentik users should be removed from sensitive channels by admins.
